HEALTH SCIENCE

Bachelor of Science

The Department of Public Health Sciences prepares students for careers in the health field, one of the largest industries in the United States. It includes hospitals and other medical service providers, public health organizations, health insurance companies, health/medical related sales, and community and non-profit health agencies.

Plans of study can be arranged in health promotion and education, health systems research, health information systems, and preprofessional health studies. Students in the Preprofessional Health Studies Concentration obtain the coursework and experience necessary for acceptance into various graduate programs in clinical health professions. Students in Health Promotion and Education have the skills to assess, plan, communicate, implement, manage, and evaluate public health promotion programs. Students in Health Systems Research have the skills to describe, evalute, design, and improve the performance of health systems. Students in Health Information Systems have skills in software and hardware design, information systems design and management and are able to apply these skills in health care settings.

Students enrolled in HLTH 402 must have proof of CPR Certification prior to early registration.
